People.

I don't get people sometimes. I do video shoots as a chance to create videos for fun. Sure, it may eventually make me big and famous, but odds of that happening are so low. Basically it's a chance for a bunch of people to get together and network, plus then we get some cool finished products they can show to their friends.

Here's what kills me.

Person: Hey so tell me about your upcoming video shoot.

Me: Here's the overview.

Person: So will I get paid? Like $100?

Me: Ha ha ha no. I spend a lot of time, money and effort on these shoots, and I don't get paid anything. Once I start making money, then I'll start paying people.

Person: Okay, but will you pay me a little bit? I've been in other shoots that pay.

Me: Cool man.. If you only want to get paid, then don't do my shoot, because my shoot doesn't pay.

Person: No it's cool, I'll do your shoot. But I'd like to get paid.

Me: You can do my shoot, but I'm not paying anyone anything. I am buying snacks, plus it's a great networking opportunity.

Person: Look, I'm not here to network, I'd rather get paid or else spend my time doing something else.

Me: That's fine then. Just don't do my shoot. Thanks.

Person: No I'll do your shoot man, cuz we're friends! But seriously though, will you pay me at least something? Cuz it will take me a long time to get there.

Me: How many times do I have to tell you?? I'm not paying anyone. I appreciate your time, but nobody's getting paid.

Person: I'm not even going to ask for much.

Me: Look, just don't come to my shoot!!! If you're in it for the money, then you're in it for the wrong reason! Nobody's getting paid! No one's getting paid! Not you, not anyone!!! I don't want you coming to my shoot and then asking to get paid!!!!

This went on for like freakin forever. I don't know how else to tell him that no one gets paid. If people are looking for a fun time with great networking opportunities plus some cool videos they can show to their friends, then I encourage them to be in my shoots. If they're looking for a chance to make some money, then I encourage them to be in other shoots.

It's not like I'm going to say "No Pay" up front and then change my mind. And it's not like I even asked him personally to be in my shoot! He approached me about it! I don't need anyone who's going to ask me for money, especially when I specifically said that it's an unpaid shoot! People do unpaid shoots all the time. That's just how it goes. You do it for the experience and the final video. Not for the money.

I swear. Now I'm in a foul mood, and I have so much work to get done. I should've stopped the conversation long ago. I was just somehow hoping he was going to get that it was an unpaid shoot and not ask me another ten times whether or not I'd be paying him. Unpaid is unpaid. If you want to make money, do something else.

I submitted my CD to CD Baby early and told them to have it up on August 1 (the release date). Then I waited, and I waited.. and I sent them emails that they never responded to. Finally I got fed up and called them, and lo and behold, they pushed a button, and viola:

It looks like right now, it's only set up for digital download, but it should be available for hard copy purchase and single track download soon.. or so they tell me.

Needless to say, I'm excited that it's up, but I'm a bit frustrated that it took so long and that they didn't answer any of my emails or look into it on their own. Nah well.. check 'em out!

Or you can purchase in these fine spots as well!!

I'm actually starting to write jokes. I may end up doing a for real set of just stand-up at some point. We'll see. How weird would that be if I actually started doing regular stand-up comedy? And not just music, hosting, videos and stage banter? Who knows. It's fun to write these jokes. I'll hope for the best! It's always good to be writing and exploring the creative possibilities, regardless of what happens!!!!

After getting a haircut, purchasing some padded envelopes, going food shopping, ordering stickers and t-shirts and finishing a new beat, I didn't have time to start working on a new house track! I'll have to try to work on it Thursday instead, since I have double shows on Wednesday and Friday!

Some day, I'll take more time to get it done.

That and everything else.. 1 finished beat still owed to someone, a few tracks by other people I need to spit on, 10 or so of my own tracks to mix down, and some to still record my vocals, a comedy video to edit together, interviews to put up.. and oh so much more... grahh...

Malibu Coconut

I absolutely love this new track by Pam Jones! Great stuff!! A lot of people were putting it down because the rhyme scheme is pretty simple, and the video's kind of a hot mess, but that's precisely why I like it. It's a nice, pleasant pop rap track, and the video is totally all over the place and fun.

FUN. That's what's missing a lot in hip hop these days. It's just silly and happy. So many songs I hear by these new artists are crazily serious. "I'll kill you, I'll cut you, you suck." I can't listen to those tracks more than a few times, but this Malibu gots me pumpin in again and again!! I hope more gay artists take the fun route and just have a good time with it.

Still crazy far behind.

I have like a hundred thousand million billion projects that are in the queue. I guess the best I can do is focus on getting them done, one at a time. I like doing shows, but they take up a whole evening. I'm kind of happy having a few weeks where I can just hunker down and bang out some tracks or write up some of my completed interviews, go through my months of mail, etc etc

You know, it's always nice to spend quality time with quality friends. I've been able to spend a lot of time with the people who are closest to me recently, and to me, that's what life is really about. Go team. Solid.

I hate it when I get hungry for meat, bread and chips. I wish I could snack on fruit or veggies, but those just often aren't very satisfying. It's like eating air. I don't want to just pack on calories and fat, but I don't know how to calm my urges. I try to drink a lot of water, which helps a bit...

Enjoy.

A lot of people don't seem to get social tact. I'm not perfect myself, but I try to make everybody feel comfortable and at home. That's really all that I ask for. When you see someone at a party, you don't need to talk to them forever, but it's nice to at least chat for a few minutes and maybe share some sort of special moment in addition to status updates.

GTFA GTAF

Yo, I recently bought Grand Theft Auto for my DS. At the same time, I bought Suikoden Tierkreis. They're both good games, but I got much more involed with ST. I was surprised when I switched back to GTA today to discover I hadn't played it since March!! Man, how time flies. Over two months without GTA. I feel like I was just playing it yesterday, but I guess not.
